I have a confession: Everything I know about southern style I learned from Friday Night Lights.
Somehow, I don’t think that sunglass croakies and cowboy boots really provide a complete picture of men’s fashion below the Mason-Dixon line.
That’s why I’m psyched that my friends over at The Dapper Style have put out their Spring Style Guide. Based in Dallas, the guys’ style tips and tricks serve as a good primer for me on how guys dress well somewhere other than Brooklyn. And since I’ve been accused of indulging in exclusively Yankee style here on Style Girlfriend, it’s good for me to wrap my head around the differences in guys’ style in between here and California.
If you’re a Southern boy – or just always had an affinity for colorful khakis and boat shoes (both big for spring everywhere!) – go check it out.
Best of all, the Dapper guys follow the idea that “style doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive,” which I’m on board with 100%. Women just want a guy to look like he’s put some effort in – they’re not looking at your tags to see the label or how much it cost (and if they are, ditch ‘em). The guide’s “Where to Buy” reads as a veritable who’s who of…stores in your hometown mall. I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to be in a big city to stock a stylish closet. In fact, I do most of my shopping when visiting my parents in Wisconsin.
And…check back next week for a cool collab from Style Girlfriend x The Dapper Style!
