How to Wear Dressed Up Chinos

Are you ready for Style Girlfriend’s second-annual No Jeans January challenge? Good. Us too. All month we’ll be throwing down the gauntlet: 31 days, no jeans, game on. Each week, we’ll focus on a jeans-free alternative and share daily outfit inspiration. What’s more? We’ll be rewarding a stylish reader every week who shares a non-denim selfie using #NoJeansJanuary on social media with #SGapproved swag.

Welcome to the fourth day of No Jeans January, gentlemen. How are we feeling? Hopefully it’s: wildly dapper with a hint of “I’m breaking clean out of any style rut this year.” If not, trust us, you will.

We kicked off wearing and pairing chinos because of their versatility (and well, convenience). Having become indelibly linked to Casual Fridays, we wanted to give this wardrobe staple a dressed up treatment by adding a blazer, dress shirt, and a sportier take a waistcoat. AKA you’ll feel like you’ve hacked the office dress code.

Below, your dressed up chinos:

Chinos: Todd Snyder, $168 | Blazer: Suit Supply, $499 | Vest: JackThreads, $69

Shirt: Bonobos, $98 | Socks: Paul Smith, $30 | Tie: The Tie Bar, $19

Belt: Club Monaco, $98 | Pocket square: Nordstrom, $40 | Shoes: Cole Haan, $196

Watch: Nixon, $175Face wash: Perricone MD, $45 | Glasses: Warby Parker, $95

Beanie: Soulland, $35

WHY LADIES LOVE THIS LOOK:

“Tab front chinos that look almost like trousers are my jam. This style has the same magical effect as those pants from “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” – as in, they make everyone who wears them look awesome. Buy ‘em by the dozen and thank me later.”
