More Fair Isle for your Friday

Now that the temperature in NYC has taken a distinct nosedive into “It’s winter, bitches,” territory, my mind keeps wandering back to Fair Isle. Something about icy wind blasting me in the face on my morning walk to the subway that makes me want to layer up in Nordic-inspired wool. Go figure.

If the weather where you are calls for bundling up against the chill, below are a few more Fair Isle pieces for a stylish (and toasty) winter wardrobe:

L. L. Bean Signature Cardigan, $119

Look how manly this dude in the zip-up cardigan with all the snowflakes on it looks. (Not sarcasm, though I acknowledge it sounded that way in my head when I read it back too)

Kohls Chaps Fair Isle Sweater, $31 (on sale)

Who’s scared of a little winter white?

Ralph Lauren sweater vest, $150

Confession time – I love a good sweater vest on a guy. Always have. Always will. Layer yours under a blazer if you’re not ready to bust it out on its own.

Brooks Brothers socks, $23

Too shy to full monty your Fair Isle? Try a discreet pair of socks in the multi-color pattern.

American Rag trapper, $25

This is, as they say, a lot of hat (does anyone say that?). If you have enough confidence to think you can pull it off, then you probably can.
