They don’t call them blue bloods for nothing..
Prince Harry rocked a suit in the royal shade this week for the UK premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. And while I recently expressed my condolences on Twitter for any guy unlucky enough to have to wear a suit in this summer heat, Harry looked pretty comfortable. Better than comfortable, actually. He looked pretty cool.
Living in a constitutional republic, I can’t say for sure what royal duty this “spare” in the “heir & a spare” equation is fulfilling by attending blockbuster movie premieres, but hey, if it were me, I’d probably throw the crown around for even more trivial things. Skipping the line at Walgreen’s, or making the sales associate at J.Crew go to the back and check if they had my size in a shirt on the clearance table even after she insists that “Everything that we have is already out.” (Not totally unrelated, remember that time Prince Charles hung out with the Spice Girls?)
While Harry could have called in the services of the royal tailor (I know he’s got one) to take those pants in a little, he still looked great. Actually, both Prince Harry and Prince William look at home in suits – so many occasions to dress up, I suppose.
Maybe that’s what I like most of all about this look – the effortlessness of it all. Like he just rolled off his polo horse, into this suit, and off to the red carpet. Sometimes, simplicity is king. Or at least the future king’s little brother with no responsibilities and all the fun.
As an aside, I got in trouble with an Avengers-themed style post awhile back for what some took as badmouthing comic book movies (though everyone liked RDJ’s outfit). While I stick to my Thor and Hulk-related apathy, I’ve got to admit – I’m pretty psyched about this latest Batman flick. What can I say? The thought of sitting in ice-cold air conditioning for a couple hours watching Tom Hardy flex humongous bad guy muscles this weekend just appeals to me for some reason…
