It was only a matter of time.
With how well Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been dressing on his recent press tour for sex addict rom-com (ahh, a tale as old as time) Don Jon, we had to give him some SG props eventually.
The frequent Man of Style contender’s outfit was on point at the German premiere of his new film. The man’s a movie star in his own right, turning heads for his acting chops – and now counting writer/director on his resume as well – and deserves all the respect he gets as a well-heeled style icon.
JGL totally masters the oxymoronic dress code of casually-formal (or is it formally-casual?). Once again, the shoes are a bit beat up-looking, which is why I switched them out for a more polished pair. Yup, again. Like Miley says: This is our house. This is our roof. This is our style site to do as we please.
The best thing about this look is that you probably own most of these pieces already. A great pair of jeans and a sport coat are wardrobe essentials, and we just talked about plaids, so I know at least a few patterned shirts are hanging in your closet.
The great thing about this type of outfit is that you’ve got color combinations a-plenty. Whether you go for a boldly-colored plaid button-up or swap in a bright red tie, you can’t really go wrong.
Speaking of a pop of color – JGL sports his red hitRECord pin with almost every outfit he hits the red carpet in (or lipsync battles in, for that matter). The actor subtly promotes his online collaborative production company in a stylish way. Because as we all know: the best kind of shameless self-promotion is the kind that enhances your ensemble, not detracts from it).
