I have an announcement to make… I’m taking a vacation!

Ha, did I scare you? Don’t worry, I’m not pregnant. I’ve been putting off telling you because I have the megalomaniac notion that you guys will miss me while I’m gone. If you follow me on Twitter, you know I’m headed to Wisconsin for a solid week in my home state. While I’ve gotten back a few times this summer so far, those trips were only for weekend trips here and there – not nearly enough time to relax much at all.

So while Wisconsin isn’t quite an exotic destination (but like, *just* quite. It nearly is), I’m going to do my best to pretend I’m operating on a wifi-free basis next week. No blogging, no tweeting, no Facebooking.

…Okay, maybe some tweeting, but that’s it.

I won’t leave you stranded, though. Stop by next week, and you’ll find links to older Style Girlfriend articles that I particularly liked and think are worth a second look. (Or first look, for my newer readers) Beyond that, the most men’s style you’ll be getting from me are glamour shots of my handsome nephew. At two months old, he’s been looking GQ cover-ready in his Brewers onesies.

Not that I won’t be thinking about you guys. I’m going to take this time stepping away from the screen to think about new and better ways to make Style Girlfriend a fun, informative place for you to visit. It’s like investing in a new comfy couch, or a big kitchen table so you can invite people over for dinner parties – I want to make Style Girlfriend a more inviting place to just chill, ya dig? So many of you were helpful in responding to my survey last week. ::HUGE thank you to all who did, by the way. You guys never cease to amaze me with your positive, thoughtful takes on what it is I’m trying to do here. You’re the best. Have I said that before? You’re the best….a-r-o-o-o-u-u-u-nd!

So many of you spoke up, in fact, that I’m still sifting through your responses. But I can’t wait to apply your answers about what you like on Style Girlfriend, and what you want to see more of, to improve the site. (Oh, and to the reader who works at the bar down the street from my house and offered to buy me a Shirley Temple the next time I stop in? I AM TOTALLY TAKING YOU UP ON THAT).

What that means, though, off the top of my head? More styling how-to’s like the shirt rolling tutorial (and don’t worry, I’ll find a belt for my model next time!!), more brands at varying price points, and – yes – more personal style posts. The awkward writer who hides behind her computer persists, but she’ll get out from behind it more often to remind you guys of what she looks like, and to show how I get dressed, with lessons you can apply to your own wardrobe.

And finally, more of what this site is all about – giving you the female perspective – or at least, THIS female’s perspective – on what guys want to wear. You can find out from GQ about the history of the bluchers vs. brogues (if you care), but they can’t tell you what I think about brogues on your feet. That’s why you’re coming to me, and that’s what I intend to re-commit myself to moving forward.
