This week’s OOTW comes to us from @MrEyeconic on Twitter.

It’s not necessarily the style I responded so strongly to (though I do love a guy who can pull off a bow tie), it’s that he owns the whole look so confidently. He looks so put together, and it’s great how the different pieces coordinate without feeling too matchy-matchy.

Also? Whoever said a sweater vest is nerdy should know better now. Mr Eyeconic obviously does.

And those shoes? Get on every guy I know’s feet. Right now.

Here’s what he had to say about his look:

1. Bowtie (Self Tied) from Ebay
2. Vest from Polo (similar here)
3. Trousers: Levis 511′s
4. Shoes and Watch both from Aldo “The shoes were love at first sight”

Gabi’s take:

My favorite parts are the straight fit chinos, bow-tie and watch. And the shoes that make the look his own. Also the little pop of red from the man on the horse, because red is my favorite color.

I’ve been putting my looks together with @stylegf in mind, ever since I came across her page. #style #fashion #look

— Not Theodore (@MrEyeconic) February 20, 2013

Mr. Eyeconic, got anything to add? I’m sure readers would love to know where you got what you’re wearing in the picture above. Let us know in the comments!

Then readers, tell me: Do you rock the bow tie look? What about the sweater vest? If so, how do you keep it cool (and less pocket protector-esque)

(Asos)

Has anyone else had that Adele song, “Rolling in the Deep” stuck in their head for the past three weeks straight? No? That’s just me? Well, if you’re not into rolling in the deep, I’ve got something else you can roll. No, not that. I’m talking about rolling your chinos (ed. note: segue….landed).

Stuff like this – properly rolling your pant hems, say, or zhush-ing the sleeves of a sweater back to show the button-down underneath – these are styling techniques that girls seem to absorb by osmosis over the years. But these are skills a guy may not have in his wheelhouse. It’s cool, you can pee standing up, I can braid my hair. So we’re pretty much even.

If you’re into trying this breezy summertime look that manages to be a little bit preppy, and a little bit hipster, here’s a primer:

1. Fold vertically, then horizontally.

I’m not saying you need to peg your pants, but if you don’t tighten the cuff a bit, you’ll never get the rolls to stay. Take the fabric at the inner ankle between two fingers and fold over itself, about an inch to two inches, depending on how wide the pants are.

2. Roll once or twice, but not more than three times.

We’re going for rolled pants, not capris. This isn’t Europe.

3. Rough it up.

The look should be a little rough, as if you quickly rolled up your pant legs before disembarking the schooner you sailed in to your private island. Casually elegant, you dig? Yes, you have to spend a little time perfecting the “I didn’t spend any time on this” look. But it will get easier.

(Gap)

3. Wear with a casual shoe.

I like a nice low-top Chuck for this look. But a boat shoe or an oxford look nice too. Whatever you wear, just make sure it’s a low top. This is no time for an ankle boot or high top.

Check out this guy who was nice enough to let me snap his pic at the Wieden + Kennedy SHOP event this weekend for an example of a dude totally nailing the look. Love the coordination (but not matchy-matchiness) of the shirt with those shoes. I’m also more than a little obsessed with those Nikes.

See? Easy! If guy whose face I unfortunately cut off because I can’t take a decent picture with my phone to save my life can do it, so can you!
