Finally – a male accessory that has baffled us ladies for too long. It was about time.

Sure, our list is longer (double-sided tape, Spanx, slips, bobby pins, those weird bra hook thingys), but you guys make us board the “What does this do again?” bandwagon too. Because I don’t think I’m the only girl who, until very recently, had no idea what a collar stay was. Now, I can’t sing their praises highly enough.

By now, I hope I’ve convinced you that paying attention to the details adds up to a big difference in your appearance. Really, it’s the small things that count. Like collar stays – your dress shirt’s best accessory. These metal or plastic strips are inserted into those little pockets on the underside of a dress shirt’s collar to keep the collar’s point in place and looking sharp.

Shirts often come with plastic stays when you buy them, but they’re easily bent. It’s best to invest in metal collar stays. And like any good whozit and whatsit galore, I suggest taking to the internetz to find these bad boys. I like the ones from Wurkin Stiffs, which work like a charm on a collar that’s gotten a bit floppy.
