Hey guys, happy Monday!

Let’s kick off this first full week of May with a look back, shall we? Here’s the stuff that got me all in a tizzy in April.

{clockwise from top left}

Think Dirty app

A reader actually gave me the heads up about this amazing app, which helps you find safer, cleaner stuff to put on your hair, face, and body. Just scan the barcode of over 2,000 brands, and you’ll get a read on the toxicity of its of ingredients. The founder was inspired after a family history of breast cancer plunged her into research of the disease’s many causes, including toxic ingredients in cosmetic and personal care products.

More and more, we’re learning the environmental impact these products can have on our health, and it’s scary that, in the U.S., this industry isn’t regulated by food and drug sectors. Think Dirty empowers and educates the consumer to make informed decisions about the products we purchase.

Star Wars x Vans Collectibles

Since we can’t buy tickets for the next Star Wars movie quite yet, this new Vans collection will have to do. Vault by Vans pays homage to a movie phenomenon that has grown into a way of life for many and nurtured the kind of loyal, lasting following that few have. As a proud owner of an Ewok village playset growing up, these sneaks are right up my (nerdy) alley.

Bevel shaving system

Bevel is one of those brands where you wonder, why didn’t anyone do this sooner? The first shave system made for men of color, its razor and skincare products were created specifically for those dealing with coarse, curly hair and sensitive skin.

The starter kit in this subscription-based service rings in at just under $60, and comes with everything you need, from a safety razor and blades, to pre-shave oil, shaving cream, and alcohol-free aftershave. The brand’s double edge safety razor cuts at the skin level for a comfortable, close shave with no tugging, pulling, or irritation. And it doesn’t clog because there’s not multiple blades for hairs to get stuck between. For those dealing with ingrown hairs and skin irritation caused by shaving, this new line will be a lifesaver…or at least a skin-saver.

M.Nii

This small Hawaiian brand started in the 1950s, and is best known for making the board short famous. Now, the company’s back and cooler than ever, partnering with J.Crew and making impossibly chill surfwear like this striped tee.

Vaseline Men’s Spray Lotion

Utilizing compressed air, the manly-scented lotion in this cannister is released in a steady stream. Once applied, you rub it in and are out the door. Honestly, I don’t know that it provides as much moisture as a thicker, more traditional lotion, but in my experience, if guys are using lotion at all, it’s a good thing. This release method makes the whole process a little more fun, and easier to boot. Plus, I could see this easily stowing in your gym bag, so you really have no excuse not to lotion up when you’re fresh out of the shower.

Old Navy activewear

I recently joined a gym – is it possible to burn out from running in the cold? because that’s what happened to me – and decided to reward myself with some new workout gear (as one should). That’s how I discovered what great activewear Old Navy has these days. I’ve been living in their leggings for over a month now, at the gym, but post-workout too, and couldn’t help but peek into the guys’ aisle while shopping. These sleeveless shirts offer breathability without looking too bro-y. Like Goldilocks says, it’s “just right.”
