Inspiration Boards: Denim on Denim
how to wear the "Canadian tuxedo"
Okay, fair warning: today’s boards boast a high degree of difficulty for the wearer. Double denim – also known as the “Canadian Tuxedo” – is not for beginners. But it can be done! A couple things to remember:
Most important, your denim should not be all one color. Generally, you want to go with a lighter shirt and darker pants, but if you have a pair of white wash jeans, well…actually, we’ve got bigger problems if that’s the case.
Oh, hey chambray.
Everyone should have a denim jacket in their closet, but I’d also encourage you to add a chambray button-down to your repertoire. It’s surprisingly versatile and has that All-American look that never goes out of style.
Attitude is everything.
Your demeanor should read along the lines of, “Yeah, I’m wearing allover denim, what are you gonna do about it?” Check blonde James Bond Daniel Craig’s facial expression for a primer on not looking like you give a fuck.
Do it right, and you’ll look like a sexy furniture designer who women that don’t know any better will clamor to name their babies after for years to come. Make a monochromatic misstep, and you’ll look like…well, this:
Also, searching “Jay Leno denim” allowed me to stumble onto this amazing site.”Chambray Jay, a site committed “to Jay Leno’s never-ending suppy of chambray shirts.” God I love the internetz.
