Below, discover how to mix and match every item in this packing list into stylish men’s summer vacation outfits:
Look #1: Travel Outfit
sweatshirt | sunglasses | pants | tee | shoes
My favorite travel tip? Always wear your bulkiest pieces to the airport.
Thankfully you’re not dealing with boots and coats for summer travel, but sweatshirts take up a lot of room in luggage. I personally find most airports and planes to be freezing, so the layers help.
But! If you run hot, you can tie the sweatshirt around your waist and still gain the benefits of lighter, more spacious luggage.
Look #2: Pool Hang
shirt | cap | shorts | sneakers
The epitome of men’s summer vacation outfits, this look is perfect for when you know you’re ultimately going to end up in just swim trunks…but still want to look good.
Throw on your camp collar shirt, add a hat for some easy sun protection (but don’t skimp on the sunscreen!) and slip into your sneakers for an instantly stylish poolside look.
Look #3: Nice-ish Dinner
You know how nothing is really super formal anymore? Lean into the ease—but still feel a little polished post-sun—with a wrinkle-free linen shirt, some cool fatigue pants, and slip-on leather shoes. It’s a look that will make you feel put together, but not the least bit stuffy.
Look #4: Beach Day
shirt | shorts | cap | sneakers
When it comes to men’s summer vacation outfits, days by the water are easy.
Stick to the basics for the beach or pool.
Water-resistant shorts that dry fast enough to wear into a restaurant at lunch. A long-sleeve linen shirt to block sand and excess rays without trapping heat. And don’t forget a hat to prevent sunburnt scalp and hide weirdly-dried wet hair. The sneakers you’ll want to slip out of as soon as you hit the sand.
Look #5: Museum Visit
shirt | pants | sunglasses | shoes
Every vacation spot has a museum of sorts—whether it specializes in local birds, the history of handicrafts, or an artist that lived their best lives there, honor the setting.
A textured camp collar shirt, fatigue pants, and these camp bluchers say you have an eye for detail—and will look great in a candid picture of you thoughtfully pondering.
Look #6: Waterfront Dinner
What could be more seabreeze-y than this effortlessly stylish look?
The same camp shirt feels thoughtful, white drawstring pants leave room for extras, boat shoes are right at home. Let the crashing waves serve as live entertainment.
Look #7: Boat Outing
sweatshirt | shorts | sunglasses | shoes
Never have I ever been on a boat and not wanted long sleeves! Whether it’s the wind whipping or the sun setting, there is always a chill on a boat. That being said, I will willingly jump into any body of water despite the temperature, so swimsuit is required attire. Add the hat if it’s tight on your head, or you don’t mind losing it!
Look #8: Outdoor Adventure
tee | shorts | sunglasses | sneakers
Practical is the name of the game when it comes to adventure. Whether you’re hiking waterfalls or spelunking, you can’t go wrong with a classic tee, convertible shorts, sneakers and sunnies.
Look #9: Local Shopping
Remember all that extra luggage space I was touting with this packing list? Here’s where it comes in hand. Hit up the local market and stock up on friends’ birthday presents, thank-you gifts for your pet sitter, and new duds that will mentally transport you back to this trip every time you wear them.
Look #10: Final Dinner
shirt | pants | sneakers | sunglasses
