Congrats David, you are Outfit of the Week!

Now you can rock your Lacoste sunglasses with your daytime look, and wear Lacoste Noir with both!
(Unless you wear sunglasses at night, a la Corey Hart)

Here’s what David had to say about his looks:

This weekend, my wife and I are taking Friday off and heading down to the Chesapeake Bay for a relaxing weekend at a nice resort, sans children.  Our kids are 4 and almost 2, and since they were born, we have never had the chance to spend some time away—just us.  So, as you might expect, we are really looking forward to the peace and quiet.

Seeing as we’re planning a grown-up getaway, I thought it would be a great opportunity to apply some SG philosophy and put together a few “resort weekend” looks.  In fact, I was already thinking about this when I saw this week’s OOTW “day-to-night” challenge.  And while traditionally “day-to-night” conjures up images of a work-day-to-happy-hour theme, I’m taking a different angle.  Besides, what better way to highlight a prize of a sexy summer fragrance and hip shades than to play off of a posh summer excursion?

DAY

You can have your casual Friday office wear….I’m taking Friday off, so my “day” will involve sitting at the pool bar, enjoying a nice lunch with my wife, and taking in the scenery.  The flat front, colorful shorts are a welcome break from my former life of baggy tan cargo shorts.  I also fell in love with this slim fit chambray shirt when I saw it in the store, and Gabi’s article inspired me to give the sleeve roll a try (I admit I wasn’t in love with this idea but having tried it, I’m warming up!).  As for the shoes, the very first SG-inspired thing I ever bought was a pair of canvas Sperry’s a few years ago.  I still have them, although they are literally falling apart, so I knew I would be upgrading this summer.  I definitely love the chocolate leather—I think I’m a boat-shoe-for-life guy now.

NIGHT

After a day of enjoying the sun and bay breeze, we’ll be heading to any one of the resort’s upscale restaurants.  Seeing as we are on vacation, I wanted to stay relaxed, but at the same time, we want to keep things sophisticated.  This linen jacket seemed to fit the bill.  The breathable fabric will keep me feeling cool, and the gingham pattern will keep me looking cool.  The driving mocs are another relatively recent addition to the shoe lineup, and I am really enjoying the look and comfort.   Incidentally, regardless of what Megan and Gabi think of this look, I’m going to defer to my 4-year-old daughter’s reaction: “Daddy, you look cool! I like you!”

Gabi’s Take

The best part of Dave’s outfits is how much thought he put into them! It shows that if you try a little, it goes a long way. Those blue pants are the perfect shade for summer, and I’m also totally in love with that chambray top (and you all know it). I also couldn’t help but go awwww when I read what his daughter had to say; I think you look cool, too!

Megan’s Take

Dave really nailed both his day and night looks. What I like most about Dave’s daytime outfit is that he shows you can be comfortable and still look put-together. In a tucked-in button up shirt and khaki shorts, Dave looks as laid-back as if he were wearing a ratty old t-shirt and cutoff jeans. Easy, breezy, and 100x more handsome. In his evening look, I love the print on the jacket with the bright pants; who says you can’t have two standout pieces in one outfit!

Tell Us,

How do you do day to night style?
