Steal His Look: Star Trek Beyond Red Carpet Style
CHRIS PINE, JOHN CHO, AND KARL URBAN STAY SHARP IN BLUE
This past week the dapper stars of Star Trek Beyond have been dishing out some Destiny’s Child-level coordination. Chris Pine, John Cho, and Karl Urban have mastered – with the help of a trusty stylist, of course – the balance between coordinating colors as group and looking like guys in matching prom tuxedos.
Watch Megan and Brit spill their thoughts on matching outfits and mansplaining in this new video
What’s more, this press tour trio reminded us ladies at Style Girlfriend just how handsome a staple blue suit can look because of its versatile nature. Naturally, we couldn’t pick just one galactic gentleman to highlight and decided break down all three ways to give a blue suit the red carpet treatment – no head shots necessary.
The guys of Star Trek Beyond and their suited styles:
Chris Pine
Suit: Suit Supply, $639 | Shirt: Ledbury, $165 | Shoes: Allen Edmonds, $395
Tie Bar: J.Crew, $30 | Cologne: Byredo, $145 | Hair Gel: Baxter of California, $20
Tie: The Tie Bar, $25
Wear it well: Timeless, ageless, and undeniably sharp. A classic blue suit with a white dress shirt and navy tie looks that much better when you add a little texture or even a simple accessory.
John Cho
Suit: Suit Supply, $639 | Shirt: Brooks Brothers, $50
Pocket Square: PocketSqua.re, $12 | Shoes: George Brown BILT, $375
Belt: Trafalgar, $75 | Watch: Triwa, $299
Wear it well: Singing nothing but the blues with this monochrome mix-up. Swap your favorite light blue OCBD for a rich navy to add a little more depth to your everyday office style. We love how Cho went bold with the dress shirt and black tie combination, but choosing a dark pocket square versus a black tie will keep your look primed for day time.
Karl Urban
Suit: Suit Supply, $639 | Shirt: Club Monaco, $99 | Cardigan: Suit Supply, $89
Shoes: Ted Baker, $162 | Tie: Nordstrom, $50 | Socks: Pair of Thieves, $10
Pocket Square: Penrose London, $90
Wear it well: Get the three piece effect with a more casual vibe by grabbing a thin cardigan. You can even lose the jacket and still look just as pulled together for a board meeting or round three at the bar.
TELL ME:
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO STYLE A STAPLE SUIT?
See what we’re watching, playing, eyeing, and reading each week. Oh! And don’t miss out on Megan and Brit’s latest Happy Hour Live.
I always love a microcheck shirt and knit tie under a staple suit. But if I wanted to put a little more street into it, I’d swap out a suit in favor of a either leather biker, a denim jacket or perhaps a bomber.
Oh yeah, definitely into that alternative
Megan I have a wedding coming up in October. Which colour suit should I go for and a safe colour for tie shirt etc. Thank you
ooh, good question! depends how fancy the wedding is. go check out my wedding style video series with Combat Gent for ideas on dressy, semi-formal, and casual outfit ideas: https://www.youtube.com/c/combatgent
Thank you – yeah I am not sure of the “theme” but as I am a guest not really part of the wedding I want a safe option. Thanks for the link
Anytime! I was so excited to do that series because I know that figuring out what to wear to weddings, given all the crazy dress codes and event locations these days, can make it super confusing to know what to wear :/ Trying to help make it easier for you guys to look Goooooood
Love those pocket squares! I also love the OCBD for the John Cho look; I’d even pair it with a striped tie and some Weejuns because Trads are rebels like that.
Right?! I’ve been on a floral pocket square kick…and am feeling very good about it
For me a navy OCBD is a real staple in my wardrobe. That’s probably the only other colour, outside light blue and white that I’ll wear for an OCBD.
kinda looks like Harold is about to be publically abducted while forced to make a fake laugh. but he looks flyyyyyyyy.
Also, black and navy.
Opinions?
