What a Woman Wants: Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior

Ask your wife or girlfriend the sites she visits each morning, and she just might name Damsel in Dior at the top of that list.
Jacey Duprie, the beautiful blogger behind the women’s fashion and lifestyle site, lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two English bulldogs, and has the blonde hair I wish I was born with. I asked her to spill her perspective on all things men’s style, and she happily obliged.
The mind behind Damsel in Dior shares What a Woman Wants:
What do you first notice about a guy’s look?
His shoes. So much that I wrote an entire college thesis paper on it.
What’s the most stylish thing a guy can do (wear/say/etc)?
When a woman rises, a gentleman also rises and stands until she leaves. When walking down a sidewalk, he positions himself closest to the street. He gives you his coat. In the most crowded parties, he finds your eyes from across the room and lets you know that you are the only one he sees. And the most stylish thing he can wear is a pocket square {but make sure it doesn’t match your tie in either pattern or fabric choice}.
What’s the least stylish?
White Hanes Socks.
What do guys stress about, appearance-wise that they really don’t need to?
Hair. I get having your hair look great but if it takes longer to do your hair than it takes me to do mine, we have a problem. {and p.s. it takes me about 2 seconds to do mine}
Has your husband’s style changed at all during your tenure as a fashion blogger?
Not much actually. When I met my husband he was, and still is, a very good dresser. His style is very James Perse meets sophisticated California.
What’s one thing you wish guys understood about women?
We aren’t crazy. We just want to be heard.
How important is…
his place?
his job?
his fitness level?
his ability to cook?
It’s all equally important. Style is someting that you have to maintain across every avenue in your life. It doesn’t matter how big your apartment is, what job you have or if you burn an omelette … if you try and take pride in what you do, then that is stylish. But, if I absolutely had to rank them they would go {in order of importance}: Job, Fitness, Cook, Place.
What’s the best gift you’ve gotten from your husband?
For our 3-year wedding anniversary he surprised me in Paris with an “L” necklace from Jennifer Meyer. “L” for Leavitt, his last name, but it also looks like a #1 which is an inside joke between us. But the reason it was so meaningful was because it proved he was listening to me a year ago when I first mentioned my affinity for her jewelry.
What’s the best gift you’ve given your husband?
The first year we dated I kept a daily journal of all of the sweet, little things he did for me. Silly things like “Today you changed the TV to E! when I flopped on the couch!” I gave it to him on our anniversary. However, I asked him this question today and he answered “Saying yes when I asked you to marry me.” {Aww Shucks!}
What’s a guy’s best opening line?
“Are you having fun?”
Favorite men’s cologne
I don’t really love cologne. But one sniff of Chanel Egoiste and I’m weak in the knees.
Grooming product you’ve stolen from your husband
Beauty product your husband steals from you?
Sshh… sometimes he wears my Jo Malone parfume {but I think it’s unisex right?}
