What we’re not going to do, guys, is wear neutral colors all season long.
It’s spring, and warm weather is dipping its toe in the pool! Heavy jackets are getting pushed to the back of the closet. Winter boots sit forgotten by the door. You’re sneaking out of work early to meet friends at a bar that just set up its outside patio!
The tl;dr? This is not the time for navy, grey, and black!
Nothing wrong with these solid, foundational hues, of course. It’s just that there’s something about welcoming the change of season with a change of clothes that feels so, “Ahhhh!” refreshing to the team here at SG HQ.
Instead, look to the bright spring coloring around you and get inspired.
Green grass peeking out from wet earth. Flowers blooming in red, violet, yellow, and every shade in between. The return of ordering iced coffee without needing to wear gloves to carry it!
You don’t have to go crazy — one bright color is enough to make a stylish springtime outfit.
And no, you don’t have to go through a color analysis to find your best spring hue. You probably already gravitate to a color — now, all you have to do is locate that shade in a warm weather fabric like cotton or twill.
Bold colors from the ROY G BIV rainbow always work.
That’s red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
It could be a light jacket, sneakers, or a key accessory or two.
Below, get inspired with colorful men’s outfits for spring:
Red
Red is Megan’s favorite way to punch up any outfit, any season.
This red Baracuta Harrington jacket makes a bold declaration that spring is here, and light outerwear is making a comeback.
A pair of mint or aqua sneakers is a great way to ensure your red gives off warm weather vibes, not winter feels.
Orange
An orange overshirt is a great way to welcome spring.
Trends come and go, but the “silk scarf as men’s accessory” look has been around a few seasons now.
Is it time you embrace it?
Yellow
Don’t sleep on yellow this spring. From Timothée Chalamet looking like a sexy stick of butter at the Oscars to this sunny slicker, the hue screams spring.
You don’t have to go bright yellow, either. A pastel shade looks perfectly appropriate for warmer weather.
Yellow doesn’t even have to be the main focus of your outfit.
Go with a punch of color in an otherwise neutral outfit for a spring style pick-me-up.
Green
Think beyond Kermit the Frog when it comes to green. This color can be found in a variety of shades, from warm greens to rich emerald.
blue
A spring color palette isn’t complete without a cheery green that reminds you of fresh-cut grass.
Indigo
Okay those dark blue pants and scarf were really just an excuse to share this outfit with the pink accents. Why isn’t there pink in ROY G BIV? Do NOT explain color theory to me, we don’t want to hear it!
Accessories are a great place to start when feeling shy about adding bold colors to your springtime wardrobe.
Violet
We’ve talked already about how a cardigan in a spring color is one of the style essentials we recommend in the warmer months. Why not one in purple?
